Ode to botany

In homage to Garcia da Orta, the illustrious Portuguese doctor and naturalist who researched the benefits of plants and herbs in India, the eponymous gardens reflect the diversity of the ecosystems the Portuguese found during the Discoveries.

The gardens are divided into five sections: Macau/Coloane, Goa, São Tomé and Brazil, Macaronesia and Africa. A kaleidoscope of vegetal biodiversity, with around 500 trees and 420 species of plant.
