Refreshing breaks

Colourful, noisy and loads of fun. The water volcanoes located the length of the Alameda dos Oceanos were very much in demand during Expo’98, particularly on the hottest days. These volcanoes also erupt, but they spew water instead of lava. The moment when the water explodes was (and still is) eagerly anticipated by visitors, both adults and children alike, and is often used to provide a refreshing shower during their day out.

The playful aspect of the volcanoes also has an educational dimension: the two side channels represent the waves of the sea, with the wave moving as normal until it breaks, just like on the beach.
